Application:
The Rogowski coil is an electrical sensor suitable for measuring alternating current (AC) or fluctuating current pulses. The sensor operates on the principal that a voltage is induced in a coil that is perpendicular to the conductor carrying the electrical current and is proportional to the rate of change of the current in the conductor. Integrating the resulting voltage provides a measurement of the current in the conductor.
Advantages:
  • Low inductance enables the sensor to respond to fast-changing currents.
  • Highly linear output when subjected to large currents changes (no ferrite core to saturate).
  • Largely immune to electromagnetic interference with equally spaced windings.
Rogowski Coil Sensor Features:
  • Frequency range: 0 to 100 kHZ
  • Accuracy: ±0.2% to ±2.0%
  • Linearity: ±0.1% to ±0.5%
  • Time response: 0.1 µ sec
  • Measurement range: 1A to 6,000A
